FPA: not known for this month · QTA: Rs 0.5194/unit

Unknown adjustments count as zero. Use the figures on your bill for a closer estimate.

How this is calculated

Worked example: 300 units, 2 kW load, un-protected

  1. 300 units × Rs 33.1 (201–300 units): Rs 9,930
  2. Fixed charges: Rs 350/kW × 2 kW: Rs 700
  3. QTA: Rs 0.5194/unit: Rs 156
  4. FC surcharge: Rs 3.23/unit: Rs 969
  5. GST 18%: Rs 2,116

Total about Rs 13,871 (≈ Rs 46.24 per unit). Tariff CY2026 (S.R.O. 279(I)/2026). The FPA is charged on its reference month's units and the QTA on this month's units.

QESCO (Quetta Electric Supply Company) supplies Quetta and most of Balochistan. Its fuel adjustment is the same for all ex-WAPDA companies. QESCO per unit price

Source: NEPRA decision on rationalization of consumer-end tariff for XWDISCOs & K-Electric (TRF-100), decision dated 11 February 2026; notified as S.R.O. 279(I)/2026. Rates last reviewed on 3 October 2026.

How slabs apply: protected consumers get the benefit of one previous slab (the first 100 units at the lower rate). Un-protected and lifeline consumers pay the rate of the slab their monthly total falls in on every unit, so crossing 200, 300 or 400 units raises the whole bill.

5 kW and above: time-of-use rates of Rs 46.85 (peak, 4 hours a day) and Rs 34.53 (off-peak) per unit, with fixed charges of Rs 675/kW on 50% of the sanctioned load (IESCO tariff guide, S.R.O. 279(I)/2026).

Minimum charge: Rs 75 (single phase) or Rs 150 (three phase) a month where no per-kW fixed charge applies, even at zero units.

Surcharges and taxes: FC (debt servicing) surcharge Rs 3.23/unit (Rs 1.43 for protected consumers, which may have changed); GST 18% on the electricity charges plus the FC surcharge; income tax 7.5% only for bill-payers not on the Active Taxpayers List with bills of Rs 25,000 or more. The PTV fee and provincial electricity duty were removed from bills from July 2025; enter the duty if your bill still shows it. Meter rent isn't included. FPA and QTA change monthly or quarterly, so enter them from your bill. Sources are listed on our methodology page.

Solar exports: new rooftop systems are on NEPRA net billing. Units you buy are charged at these rates, and units you export are credited at Rs 8.13 each (NEPRA rate for April–June 2026).

Paying more than Rs 30,000 a month? Compare with the cost of a 5 kW or 10 kW solar system.

Frequently asked questions

How is my QESCO bill calculated?

Energy charges (units × slab rate) + fixed charges (Rs per kW of sanctioned load, depending on your slab) + fuel price and quarterly adjustments + the FC surcharge and 18% GST. This calculator applies NEPRA's base rates and approximate taxes.

Why did the fixed charges on my bill go up?

Since NEPRA's February 2026 tariff decision, domestic fixed charges are per kW of sanctioned load and rise with your monthly units: Rs 275/kW up to 100 units, Rs 350/kW at 201–300 units and Rs 675/kW above 500 units for un-protected users (protected users pay Rs 200–300). With a sanctioned load of 5 kW or more you are on time-of-use billing, charged Rs 675/kW on half the sanctioned load (or the MDI, if higher).

What is the difference between protected and un-protected consumers?

Protected consumers used 200 units or less in each of the previous 6 months and get much lower rates with the benefit of one previous slab. Using more than 200 units in any month makes you un-protected for the next 6 months.

What is the per unit price for 300 units in QESCO?

For an un-protected consumer, 201–300 units are billed at Rs 33.1 per unit on every unit. With fixed charges for a 2 kW load, adjustments and taxes, a 300-unit bill comes to about Rs 13,871, or ≈ Rs 46.24 per unit all-in.

How are units I export from solar credited?

New solar connections are on NEPRA net billing. Units you take from the grid are billed at the normal tariff, and units you export are credited at Rs 8.13 each (rate for April–June 2026). Agreements signed before 9 February 2026 keep their old terms until they expire.

Net metering vs net billing, explained →

My bill went up after installing solar. Why?

The usual causes: exported units being recorded as consumption because the green meter isn't installed yet (set the inverter to zero export until it is), a battery set to charge from the grid, a wrongly placed CT sensor, or a reading error. Photograph your meter readings and raise errors with your DISCO's complaint office.

Can I stay in the protected category with solar?

Only if your grid use stays at 200 units or less every month for six months in a row. Solar used during the day lowers the units you buy, but a single month over 200 units moves you to un-protected rates for the next six months.

Why does my actual bill differ from this estimate?

Monthly FPA, quarterly adjustments, income tax for non-filers, arrears and late-payment surcharges vary by month and DISCO. Enter the FPA and QTA from your bill for a closer estimate.
