How slabs apply: protected consumers get the benefit of one previous slab (the first 100 units at the lower rate). Un-protected and lifeline consumers pay the rate of the slab their monthly total falls in on every unit, so crossing 200, 300 or 400 units raises the whole bill.
5 kW and above: time-of-use rates of Rs 46.85 (peak, 4 hours a day) and Rs 34.53 (off-peak) per unit, with fixed charges of Rs 675/kW on 50% of the sanctioned load (IESCO tariff guide, S.R.O. 279(I)/2026).
Minimum charge: Rs 75 (single phase) or Rs 150 (three phase) a month where no per-kW fixed charge applies, even at zero units.
Surcharges and taxes: FC (debt servicing) surcharge Rs 3.23/unit (Rs 1.43 for protected consumers, which may have changed); GST 18% on the electricity charges plus the FC surcharge; income tax 7.5% only for bill-payers not on the Active Taxpayers List with bills of Rs 25,000 or more. The PTV fee and provincial electricity duty were removed from bills from July 2025; enter the duty if your bill still shows it. Meter rent isn't included. FPA and QTA change monthly or quarterly, so enter them from your bill. Sources are listed on our methodology page.
Solar exports: new rooftop systems are on NEPRA net billing. Units you buy are charged at these rates, and units you export are credited at Rs 8.13 each (NEPRA rate for April–June 2026).
Paying more than Rs 30,000 a month? Compare with the cost of a 5 kW or 10 kW solar system.
Frequently asked questions
How is my LESCO bill calculated?
Energy charges (units × slab rate) + fixed charges (Rs per kW of sanctioned load, by slab) + fuel price and quarterly adjustments + surcharges, electricity duty and 18% GST. This calculator applies NEPRA's base slab rates and approximate taxes.
What is the difference between protected and un-protected consumers?
Protected consumers used 200 units or less in each of the previous 6 months and get much lower rates with the benefit of one previous slab. Using more than 200 units in any month makes you un-protected for the next 6 months.
What is the per-unit rate for 300 units?
For an un-protected consumer, 201–300 units are billed at Rs 33.1 per unit on all units under the current NEPRA schedule, before fixed charges, adjustments and taxes.
Why does my actual bill differ from this estimate?
Monthly FPA, quarterly adjustments, provincial electricity duty, income tax for non-filers, arrears and late-payment surcharges vary by month and DISCO. Enter FPA/QTA from your bill for a closer estimate.
