What moves solar panel prices in Pakistan

Almost every panel sold here is imported, so the rate per watt follows the rupee–dollar exchange rate and factory prices in China. Import duties and sales tax changes, usually around the federal budget, can shift prices overnight. Local stock matters too: dealers clearing older P-type stock or waiting on a shipment can move the market for a few weeks, and demand rises before summer.

How we build this history

Our scraper checks Pakistani dealer and marketplace listings every morning. Each listing is stored once per day with its price, wattage, source and the time it was checked, and older days are never overwritten. The chart and table above are calculated straight from those stored observations. Read the full methodology, or go back to today's solar panel prices.

Frequently asked questions

What is the solar panel price today compared with last month?

We started recording daily prices on 2 October 2026, so a month-on-month comparison from our own data will be available from 1 November 2026. The latest daily median is Rs 40.0/W (5 October 2026).

Are solar panel prices going down in Pakistan?

It is too early to say from our own data: we have 4 days of history so far. Prices follow the rupee–dollar rate, factory prices in China, duties and local stock, so check back as the chart fills in.

How is the daily median worked out?

Each day we take every panel listing our scraper found that day (one observation per listing per day), convert it to price per watt, and take the middle value. The shaded band covers the middle 60% of listings (20th to 80th percentile), so one very cheap or very expensive listing doesn't move it much.

Why does the rate sometimes move from one day to the next?

Partly real price changes, and partly which dealers and listings were online that day. A dealer adding a batch of cheaper P-type or older stock can pull the median down for a day. Look at the trend over a week or more rather than a single day.

Do you fill in missing days or estimate past prices?

No. If the scraper didn't run or a dealer site was down, that day is simply missing from the chart. We never back-fill or invent historical prices; the history starts on the day we first collected data.

How should I use this when I get a quote?

Convert the panel line of your quote to price per watt (panel price ÷ wattage) and compare it with today's band. A quote inside the band is normal; one well above it is worth questioning, and one far below it deserves extra checks on stock and warranty.
