Privacy policy

This page explains, in plain language, what information SolarRates.pk collects and what we do with it. The short version: you can use the price pages and calculators without telling us anything about yourself.

Browsing the site

You don't need an account. The bill and system calculators run in your browser and we don't store what you type into them. Like almost every website, our hosting provider keeps basic server logs (IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) for security and troubleshooting. These logs are kept for a limited time and are not used to identify you.

Installer listings and forms

If you submit the list your business form, we store what you enter: business name, city, phone, and optionally email, website, address, services and description. Your phone, address, website and description are published on the directory once the listing is approved. Your email address is not published; we only use it to contact you about your listing.

Some installer listings are marked “unclaimed”. These contain business details that were already public on Google Maps (business name, address, phone number, Google rating and review count). We include them so people can find local installers. Business owners can ask us to correct or remove them at any time.

The solar calculator doesn't ask for your name or phone number, and we don't pass anything to installers. Your choices are kept only in the page address (URL), so you can share or bookmark the result. If you contact an installer from the directory, you deal with them directly.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and tools are useful. It sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_<ID>, kept for up to 2 years) to tell visits apart, and sends Google your pages viewed, rough location (from your IP address, which Google does not store), device and browser type, the site you came from, and actions like using the calculator or clicking “View at dealer”. From the calculators we only send the choices you make (such as appliances picked, your goal and the suggested system size), never your name, phone number or bill amount. You can block these cookies in your browser settings or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Read more in how Google uses data from sites that use its services.

We don't use advertising cookies at the moment.

Advertising

In the future we may show ads, for example through Google AdSense, to cover running costs. If we do, Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised ads in Google's Ad Settings and learn more on how Google uses data from sites that show its ads. We'll update this page before any ads go live. Ads will never change the prices we show.

Who we share data with

We don't sell personal information. We use service providers to run the site (web hosting, our database and Google Analytics), and they process data only to provide that service. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

Removal and correction requests

To see, correct or delete information about you or your business, email contact@solarrate.pk and tell us which page or listing it is. We aim to act on requests within 14 days.

Changes

If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
